Question:

What kind of clay will stick to styrofoam?

I want to build a puppetI plan on making the head by buying a styrofoam head or ball and then putting clay on it, and molding the clay to match the features I wantWhat type of clay will be best? (I will not be putting it in oven, so it will have to be air-dry)Thank you.

Answer:

Polymer clay will stick, unfortunately the foam shrinks when heated to bake the polymerYou might try a test run with Bondo, the epoxy material used to repair carsAnd actually, you might be better off making the head by carving soft wood - the traditional material.
