I would think that you have two main issues. 1. How to attach the hoist to the gate so that it will open and close the gate. This will be specific to your hoist and gate. 2. How to rig a remote control so that you can press a button in a car and activate the gate. You could adapt a garage door transmitter/receiver to do this. Check the web for suppliers.
Seems to me that it is a question of leverage. Your current motor is .61Hp. The amount of torque required to rotate a spool is the primary consideration.
