Question:

What makes a car alarm go off when youre unlocking with the original key?

I have a 2000 Jeep, the remotes will not work for some reason even with new batteries in them. When I unlock the jeep with the key, the alarm goes off til I start it up.

Answer:

Our suburu and avalanche do the same thing it's a security thing but it's wicked dumb. It also locks up the ignition too on ours.
My car does the same thing. It has two alarm systems on it: The factory system and a VIPER Alarm. If the VIPER is set, and I unlock the doors with the key, the VIPER is triggered because I have entered within vehicle proximity distance and disturbed the electromagnetic field of the car. Get your remotes fixed/updated.
