If they are hardwired and you have changed the batteries, then there is a breaker or fuse that they are connected to. If you can find that fuse or breaker you can turn it off or take it out, this will take the hardwired power off of the smoke dectector. But you will not have electricity to that room that they are connected to. Good luck.

Honestly, the best 'all-around' exercise aid under $50 is a good set of running shoes. You'll see way more results by going out walking/running/jogging, etc (ie: Cardio Based) then you will with the typical 'gimick' exercise machines. Most of them are extremely cheap (as in quality).. Double check that the battery is snapped firmly into position. Dirt or dust on the alarm cover can cause chirping also. You can clean the cover by gently brushing a vacuum over it. there could be a malfunction in the detector and it should be replaced.
