Question:

What preventative maintenance should be preformed on a car with 60,000+ miles?

What preventative maintenance should be preformed on a 1999 honda civic with 60,000 miles on it? I have heard that the timing belt and spark plugs should be replaced, what else? Thanks. Please full and thorough lists (every part).

Answer:

Timing belt is not due till 105,000 miles. But you need to have your valves adjusted. .008 inch on intake; .010 inch on exhaust. Also, oil change, coolant change, clean throttle body and IDLE control system (very important). Remove distributor cap and inspect inside for signs of oil penetration. Wash it out with CRC chlorinated brake cleaner. Re-install cap and rotor. USE SYNTHETIC OIL. Either Mobil One or ELF oil from France. Both have special formulations just for Honda producta. READ the back label!! Good luck! Be sure to use ONLY genuine Honda coolant in this car!!!!
