I am planning on going to a service and i want my job to be welding. What branch would be the best to go into for that. I dont want to be shipped overseas really i mean to iraq i like being alive. I need help please help
Deciding what branch to join is like deciding what company that you want to work for. The Air Force is the most difficult. 1 out of every 10 that apply make it through MEPS. The Navy is second hardest or even with the Air Force. Do you like water and tight places? The Marines are a department of the Navy and they do most of the difficult ground support. They have the longest training of 12 grueling weeks of becoming a man. The Army for some is the right choice. They are by far the easiest to get into. The other question is do you want to go Active, Reserve, or Guard? That is another question for another day. They too have their perks and disadvantages.
Go Navy,,,,a lot more things to weld on a ship than there are on a tank. And the navy will give you more real world application experience than the army.
Navy SeaBees get deployed with Marines.I would try the Navy and look into becoming a navy welder who works directly with ships. The Coast Guard also offers the rate of Damage Controlman. This rate is a combination of a couple of jobs. You put out fires and then make sure that the ship still floats. The Navy should have the same type of rate In fact, it is also called a Damage Controlman.
