Question:

What should be the color of my leather sofa ( 3 seater, 1+1 seater)?

Hi, We are planning to buy a new set of leather sofas. It would be a 3 seater and two single seater sofas. Kindly let me know your suggestions and idaes as to which color we can go for. Our woodwork (showcase and the T.V unit) is very very dark brown. Our walls and flooring is half white (i.e. not pure white...but creamish in color). We are planning to paint our walls in light yellow after1 year. So kindly suggest a color that for our sofas which would go well with half white and later with light yellow colored walls and as well as the dark wood work done in the living room.RegardsSangeetha

Answer:

cream or choc brown would look lovely, mainly cream as it fits with the brown white and yellow, hope i could help :o)
i would go for a brown, but it seems everyone has a brown sofa these days, a red would look nice as weel, but not sure about a leather
I would say Cream or Tan . However, if you have children or pets - you might also want to get a cover for the couch for everyday use. Because a light color will show the dirt. You can always remove the cover when guests arrive.
i would recommend neutral colours as room is rather small . as you have a brown settee i would look to do the woodwork a chocolate brown to match the furniture and include the dado rail in that paint the top have a light colour say hessian include ceiling and below a slight darker colour .if you opt for a Hessian carpet go for a mixed fibre one with darker flecks in it to match paint colours (it also wears well and doesn't show up dirt easy . you could be brave and paint one wall a plum /Burgundy colour and the rest a lighter colour as this gives you a feature wall and goes well with creams on woodwork and your brown furniture . one a dark wall put a large mirror on wall this will give yo a feeling of space and light as well . tip to get colours right cut up the colour book and put over each other in the room you are to paint in the sunlight you get a idea of what you want before you spend a fortune on sample pots
hi sangeetha... with the colors you mentioned you may go with one of the following: 1. if you like the drama and to show your sofas then you can choose a dark brown similar to the one you already have in the room.. or a color that's not neutral like orange! 2. or to demonstrate a smoother transition without loosing emphasis on your new sofas... which is something i prefer... go for medium colors between the white (or later light yellow) walls... like a darker shade of beige or a lighter brown than the one you have...! 3. cream color or off-white (yellowish white)... which is suitable... but in this case you'll lose emphasis on the sofas and the emphasis will be on other accessories... if that's what you wish. may i also offer some tips: 1. ask the manufacturers to provide a sample of the leather, and take it to your room to view it in your room's lighting... it may look better or worse than in the showroom. 2. if you use neutral colors as i suggested you'll be more free with colors that you choose for the accessories and rugs and pillows... if you wish to use colors! 3. if you like this idea and if possible... one of the 1 seat sofas can be a different colors than the rest of the set... it'll give a modern and innovative look to your space... but make sure to distribute the pillows in a nice way then... hey... i hope i helped... good luck!
