In my house up in attic instulation is on roof rafters there was's nothings on the attic floor but i just put some insulation on the floor area wheare i could get easilyThere is also a ridgewent and attic fanAnd some part of the attic I can't get in because of the tray ceilingIf I do blow in instulation, what should I do with a high head lightingShould I take off the instulation frome the roof rafters or should I leave it aloneI am not using the attic space for anything.

Answer:

Paper is made from cellulose that is composed of HC O
Cellulose (carbon, hydrogen, oxygen)
The insulation between your roof rafters is serving no purpose as you are losing heat via the ridge vent and attic vent fan (but you have already recognized that)Sounds like someone was going to turn the attic into living space but lost interestBlowing cellulose insulation into the floor joist area is a good investment with quick payback and will make your home more comfortable tooHere in North Michigan we require a minimum of about 14 inches of cellulose, giving an insulation value of about R-42 (resistance to heat flow)Cellulose has the best R-value per inch (R 3.5 per inch) and also stops air loss from your home much better than fiberglassCongratulations on recognizing the problem and being familiar with the terminology.
