Question:

What should I do to fix my printer?

I was just given a used HP Laserjet 6L, and whenever it prints, it pulls a couple pieces of paper at a time.

Answer:

Split your one up and you have 2 already! Here are some I can think of: 1) It would slow cars down and give the driver more time to react if a child is on the road. 2) If a child is hit at a lower speed it will do less damage. 3) Speed bumps will alert the driver that there is some reason to be cautious in this area even if they haven't seen a school sign. 4) Making cars go slower makes it safer for kids to cross the road as you can see the car well before it reaches you. 5) If there are lots of parked cars picking up from school at busy times, going slower is safer for the drivers and will prevent a crash.
I don't suspect you have had CO poisoning yet. CO comes about if there is an incomplete burning of fuel (and yes even if the oven door was closed that could still happen). Since your CO detector hasn't gone off you are probably fine (although it wouldn't hurt to test it to make sure it is working). You don't want to heat your house with an oven for several reasons. 1. The oven isn't built to do that. 2. If a draft of wind comes by and knocks out your pilot light and the thermocouple (safety device to cut gas is the flame goes out) isn't working properly, then your house could fill with gas and potentially explode. 3. There is the CO angle if something gets into the oven (paper, cat, etc) and burns up (but incompletely) then there is the possibility of CO buildup. So the short of it, go get your furnace/boiler/whatever fixed.
The media are playing into people's fear of recession foremost. Secondly, most people alive today aren't aware of the Depression. Do you know how much the population has grown since then, or even since the Carter era others mention? The financial system is different, the statistics are different, it just doesn't hold up, this comparison to the Great Depression. Besides, I'm still doing pretty well myself, not having to cut back too much except on luxuries of course.
