Question:

What should i feed my pony?

My pony is a 2 year old andalusian x australian riding pony. For breakfast he gets 2 scoops of chaff (from a 2 liter ice cream container), Half a scoop of lucerne (again from a 2 liter ice cream container) and a tea spoon of dolomite (calcium) for his growing bones and then its watered down with diluted molasses. For dinner he gets about half a biscuit of oaten hay. Is this to much? if so what should i cut it back to?Its summer where we are and we have 3 other horses so there isn‘t much green / good things to graze on.His old owner used to give him 2 scoops chaff and 2 scoops pony mix. He isn‘t by any means fat, just stocky and 13.2hh (if this helps xD). But i don‘t want him to get fat, please help! :) thanksp.s He gets lightly ridden about 2 times a week (just walking) and no i did not get my broken, he was already broken in so don‘t go critising me.

Answer:

I've never had a pony but they're pretty good keepers and tend to do better on basically just pasture and hay. They can get feisty on too much grain, as well as overweight.
i can't reallly give a 100% correct answer for this as i don't know your pony personally and my horse is 16hh!!!! BUT what i do suggest s to ring or email the best branded food supplies. they can give you the information you need and even send you a little daily guide and plane to feedng your horse. the BHS also do this so it is also a good idea to give them a call too. GOOD LUCK!! plus don't over feed your pny and it sounds as if your not giving him a noth excersise to me.
Fred Flintstone was the pioneer of the first braking system.
heyyy, if u dnt wanna get him fat then instead of riding him in walk twice a week, lunge him or if your lucky put him in the horse walker. I would feed him 1scoop of oats in morning and chaff. Hay in the day, and 2scoops of pony nuts, chaff, carrots apples vitamins at night. :)))))
