Question:

what should i use for my rubberband car axel?

i am making a rubber band car for school and it is due next wensday and i have to make it using basic household materials. nothing that costs too much. if anything i dont have any ideas for what i could use for the axels, or how to make them work.. im not very 'bright' when it comes to building a car from scraps. :)if you could give me some ideas that would be great! thanks

insufficient data.. you can find change in momentum with this but not force exerted
The diameter of the hose itself does not matter. All of the internal forces within the hose balance out except where the nozzle opens to free air, so the only detail that matters is the water leaving the nozzle. If still not convinced, imagine that the hose diameter was equal to the nozzle diameter you would still get the exact same force exerted on the person even though there is no change in velocity at the nozzle. The flow rate is: ( 410 L/min ) ( 1/60 min/sec ) ( 1000 cm^3/L ) 6833 cm^3/sec So the exit velocity is ( 6833 cm^3/sec ) / ( Pi (0.75cm / 2)^2 ) 15467 cm/sec 154.7 m/sec The exit force is therefore the time derivative of the momentum: dp/dt v dm/dt ( 154.7 m/sec ) ( 6.833 kg/sec ) 1057 N
