Question:

What should the air pressure in the tire be on my motorcycle??

I have a Harley Davidson Sportster 2005 I am not sure what the air pressure in the tires should be.

Answer:

38 to 40 psi for both the front and rear the higher psi of 40 will give a smoother and better ride on highways and freeways where the lower 38 psi will give better traction for curves and switch backs
35-40 in both. The more pressure you have the longer your tires will last, but they wont have as good traction. The less pressure you have the more grip you have but less tire life.
The air pressure shown on the sidewall is NOT what the tire should be inflated too. That's the max pressure at max load you can safely run in the tire. Most bike tires run at 38 pounds front and rear and 40 in the rear if you carry a passenger.I run a lot lower pressure on the rear of my Panhead but it's a rigid frame and needs all the suspension help it can get lol.
