Question:

what size rim goes with my size tire?

i have 33x12.50Rx17E tires would a 17x8 or 17x9 rim fit my tires. And what does the numbers on the tire represent(33, 12.50R, 17E)

Answer:

ok this is a pretty easy one this is what i call the standard tire size as in it is in inches your first dimention 33 refers to the outside diameter of the tire it (it is 33 inches tall) the second dimention is how wide the tire is your tire is 12 and a half inches wide at the tread (you have a 12.5 inch foot print where the rubber meets the road) and lastly the 3rd dimention you have is the inside diameter of the tire it is what you really need to know for fitting it for the rims the 17 means yet again 17 inches that means that it will fit a rim with outside diameter of 17 inches ur rim is basicly the same your 17 is your ouside diameter and the 8/9 is how wide the rim is there for yes your tires will fit those rims however those rims are quite narrow for your tires even though they will work they will squeez your tire you would be much better off with a rim that is atleast 10 inches wide but less than 12.5 inches wide i hope i helped
33 is the diameter of the tire (top to bottom) 12.50 is the width of the tire-12 and a half inches. 17 is the rim size, not sure about the E the wheel width depends on the vehicle, 17X8 would be a safe bet. some trucks and suv's cant go any wider without spacers or a lift kit.
