Question:

What the difference between a piano and keyboard?

If i take piano classes on a piano and I get a keyboard, will the keys still be the same or is there such thing as classes for the keyboard? Because I think the keyboard is more portable but I want to take piano classes :)

Answer:

Piano is way better. A key board is electric and piano uses strings. I started on a key board but I still recommend a real piano.
The most important is to remember that piano's have weighted keys and keyboards have not. If your goal is to play piano it is imperative to have weighted keys on whathever you prefer to play and I strongly advice you to never consider a keyboard in that case. If you are looking for portability you can look for portable digital pianos which also can be transported and have weighted keys.
If you can play a piano, you can play a keyboard. The advantages to a keyboard are portability, variety of sounds, and you can listen to your playing with headphones without disturbing other people. I prefer a real piano. Some expensive keyboards can be heavy and not quite as portable, but still more easily moved that a real piano.
A piano uses strings to produce sounds; a keyboard does that electronically. So a piano is a mechanical instrument while a keyboard is an electronic one. There are electric pianos out there too and such pianos are electro-mechanical, i.e., a combination of both. I'd suggest taking piano classes as opposed to keyboard classes because you'll learn a bit more there -- using pedals and stuff.
All pianos are keyboard instruments. Not all keyboard instruments are pianos.
