Question:

what to do with a burnt carpet?

how do i get rid of a carpet burn please help

Answer:

Here's an idea for a cigarette burn... Using exacto knife slowly remove burned carpet fibres from burned area, be careful not to scrape the carpet bare - you want to only remove the burned top layer. Then using sewing glue, perferably transparent, slowly fluff and stick non-burned carpet fibres from hidden parts of the cars carpet (e.g. under car seats, trunck) in the newly cleaned area. This process can be very time consuming because the goal is to make the carpet look like nothing was ever done to it - so take your time
The only thing you can do is cut in a new piece. My brother and I do flooring on the weekends. We have done this repair many times. You have to have the right equipment to do it right. (hot iron and seam tape) If the carpet is fairly old, you can also cut out the burn if it is small and re-seam at the cut. This is also done with a hot iron and seam tape.
If it's a wall to wall carpet, get the professionals to replace the burnt part, if it's an area rug, throw it away.
help is at hand, If you have a spare piece of carpet then great , if not you can cut a piece from somewhere it will not show ( under heavy furniture or from inside a closet) Cut out the scorched piece of carpet using a sharp safety knife, Dab the the bottom of the hole and the tufts with a suitable latex adhesive. Insert the tufts into the hole and leave to dry, then brush to blend with the pile. Save you a lot of money this way, hope this helps you out
Hi small burns are fairly easy to fix. Tools you will need needle nose pliers, white glue, two-inch nail or tooth pick. First with the pliers grab the burnt fibre and pull them out (when this is done you should see the backing of the carpet) Now from the a 1 foot area around the burn pull out fibres one at a time, but not beside each other (you should not notices them missing) this is to get the same colour and wear pattern. Dip the end of fibre into the white glue and push the fibre with the nail into the backing of the carpet repeat this for each fibre until the burn spot is fill with new fibre. When the glue is dry you can trim the fibres to match. From a carpet cleaner for 14 years
