What were people doing (using) before the invention of the AC induction motor?
Animal power. petrol and diesel engines.steam engines etc...
First answer got it in the wrong order... Human power, then animals, then water, then wind, then steam. Internal combustion engines came along about the same time as electric motors (the earliest automobile designs came in 3 flavors: powered by steam engine, electric motor, and gasoline engines). Of course you asked specifically about AC induction motors (which came after DC motors), you will have to check the history books yourself for this level of detail.
