What will adding an air intake kit, or performance exhaust to my four cylinder Pontiac G5 do?
Not enough to turn it into a cool or fast car.
it would give you a little bit more power and make it sound a lot better. if you get an intake make sure you get a cold air intake they are way better than the short ram intake. and for the exhaust if you get the entire thing starting from the headers to the end it will help a lot and make it sound deeper. how that helps oh and if your not always flooring it you will get better gas mileage because it makes your car breathe better.
Well, an air intake system will generally take in air that is not coming from near the hot engine. Since the air that it feed your engine is cooler, it is more condensed and that means that there is more oxygen per given volume of air. The extra oxygen lets fuel combust more completely giving your car slightly more power and some say a little more fuel economy. As for the exhaust. Because your car’s engine is essentially an air pump, a cat-back a/k/a performance exhaust system allows the engine to pump and flow air with less interruption. More power is freed up and horsepower increases of 5 to 15 percent are well within the range of possibility. One side benefit: you will notice an increase in fuel economy because a performance exhaust system allows your engine to run more efficiently. And if you are interested in this kind of thing, another side benefit is the deeper, throatier tone produced by the exhaust system.
