Question:

What wiring harness will work with my 05 Colorado?

I just got an 05 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab and I want to put my headunit into this car. I have an Alpine CDA-9884. The wiring harness that crutchfield recommends includes the chime and is $80. I dont care about the chime and I just want to buy the cheapest one that is compatible with my car. Can someone send me a link to an adapter that will work fine? Preferably one with an actual store that I could buy it in instead of ordering online. Thanks!

Answer:

You can't use the same adapter that fits a 97' Explorer. a couple of things to keep in mind (not sure about the specifics of your vehicle. If you have a Bose sound system you will need a specific wire harness and module to adapt an aftermarket radio to the vehicle. If you have Onstar and wish to keep it after you replace your factory radio you will need the correct harness/module for that, They run between $100-150. If you have neither Bose or Onstar and want to use a cheap harness you can probably use a basic GM harness. You could ask a car audio shop which one will fit, places like best buy will have them for around 20 bucks. Lastly the door chime module that Crutchfield offers not only retains the door chime but provides a switched 12v power source for your radio (may also have day time running lights run through the radio, can't recall). If you use a basic harness you will have to get 12v switched from somewhere else. Possible 12v switched would be pink wire at the ignition harness, or cigarette lighter (test the wires before tapping into anything with a digital multimeter).
it is your power cord. it is going to pass to the corresponding power cord interior the wiring harness. in case you're actually not making use of a cord harness, you ought to connect directly to the battery (effective) - in case you do it this type, you ought to connect an in-line fuse to grant it modern (i decide to recommend a 30AMP fuse).
Well i was gonna link u a cheaper Wire harness ONLINE but u dont want online. You can find a harness just about for 20 bucks or so at a Audioshop. Just find ur Make and yr of car. waalah
