Question:

What would Air Force bomber crews do in this scenerio?

Let's say there was a nuclear war and a bomber crew flies over to Russia or China and drops their bombs as ordered. But back in the United States, most of the air bases are destroyed. What would the bomber crew do at that point? Do they just commit suicide? Is there a real military policy on this? NOTE: I remember hearing that the missile silo crews were considered dismissed from the Air Force once they have launched their missiles. But I don't know about the flight crews.

Answer:

General Orders No. 5?
Bomber crews had multiple back up landing strips as part of the mission profiles. At worst they could bail out over friendly or neutral territory. That legend about missile crews is wrong. Silo crews are in hardened subterranean bunkers with secured communications and survival gear. They remain on duty until given orders for the recovery effort.
Nowadays missiles do all the work Back in the cold war, I think you would bail out
