Just out of curiosity if you were holding a rod of some kind of metal what would be the worst to be holding when theres lightning?

Answer:

With a detector that sensitive, nobody could cook in their apartments. Since people are allowed to smoke in their own homes, what would you do if you could detect tobacco smoke from a neighboring apartment?
I would expect problems with baked polymer clay and Dremel high speed bits - they are turning so fast they build friction and melt the PVC plastic. Resin is a chemical set and might be better. You will have to use coarse bits to keep from gumming up and slow the speed down. This advice is from working PVC pipe as a construction and theater prop material.
