Question:

What would cause windshield wipers to stop working on a 95 intrepid?

My windshield wipers stopped working. I changed the fuse. I can hear the motor but they do not go. What would be the cause? If it is the motor are they expensive for this type of car to replace?

Answer:

you will desire to in no way attempt to function the windshield wipers with out first clearing the snow off the window and making specific the wiper blade isn't caught to the window from the ice. continuously pop them far off from the windo first. you will have stripped the kit stream, and would would desire to change the motor. you will desire to be waiting to locate one at a junk backyard noticeably inexpensive.
there are gears inside the motor boxes for wipers and if they are bad its a little spendy and since its a dodge the gears are nylon plastic type and break really easy
Looking at the front of your car, behind the hood, is a strip of metal fitted there called a cowl. What you need to do is remove this. I can't remember on that car, but I think its on with screws. Regardless though, it needs to come off. Then turn your wipers on. Look down under where the cowl was. Make sure your motor is running. Make sure the arm coming from the motor is moving. If the motor is running but the arm is not moving, then the attached gearbox is bad. If the arm is moving, then make sure all of the linkage is attached and working properly. From my experience, it's more than likely some of the linkage has done come loose. Sometimes all that is needed is to snap it back in where it goes. Sometimes a plastic keeper may have o be replaced. Anyway, you just have to get in there and take a looksee at what the problem is.
