what would i use to thin fiberglass resin?

Answer:

Anywhere a stovepipe goes through a wall, such as up through your floor and then out your bedroom ceiling, national fire code states that it must be double or triple wall insulated pipe. This is normally 8 inch or bigger in diameter, and acts like a chimney to protect you and the house from catching on fire. This pipe is usually in 2 foot sections, and is friction threaded to each other, kind of like the top of a plastic pop bottle. Anytime I have installed this type of system, I will run the 6 pipe from the stove up and inside this insulated chimney, all the way to the cap. There is almost no way it could leak any smoke or CO2. Where it goes through your room, it is also code to enclose this double walled pipe in a chase, which is a fancy word for putting a small wall around it with sheetrock on the inside, and a air gap around the pipe to give it a one hour fire rating [could be longer in your area]. If your dad just ran a single wall pipe through the floor and through your room, his house insurance will be cancelled as soon as they find out, and any claim will be denied if there is a fire. Your local fire department can come inspect the house if you are worried for your health or life, just give them a call. A monoxide detector will tell you when it's above the exceptable level, but I would also invest in some extra smoke detectors while you're at it. I wouldn't call him an idiot, he's just struggling with the high heating costs like the rest of us, and trying to make sure his daughter is warm.
it's a little lighter than air. keep a window open and get the stove pipe exhaust checked by a pro. they should be pitched upward until they breach the roof.
The last 2 answers are right. You first need to find out exactly what kind of PVC pipe it is. If it is CPVC it is copper tube sized and a shark-bite fitting will work. But shark bites only work on copper tube sized material (copper, pex and cpvc). Your best bet is try and find a spot that you can cut out even if you have to cut out more than you want. Put in a whole new section, you will have to buy a big piece of pipe anyways. Good luck
