Well the car alarm is almost as old as the car itself. It was invented in 1916. But it didn't become standard equipment until the remote door locks became standard equipment. If the car comes with a key fob remote for locking and unlocking the doors it most likely has an alarm built it. I doubt if the 1975-82 Chevy has a key fob remote.
A Caprice that vintage would be VERY unlikely to have an alarm. GM optioned alarms on various vehicles for a LONG period of time, probably starting in the late 60's for very high end cars (like Corvette's), but they weren't very common at all until the 2000's. If there is an alarm on a car that vintage, you can almost bet it was aftermarket, and the factory wiring was hacked up to install it. Edit: and for sure no key fob remote that vintage. But poster makes no mention of what type of alarm.
