Question:

Whats better? Ceramic or metal braces?

I‘m getting braces in a couple of months time and i was wondering what type of braces are the best. Pros and cons for both appreciated ]]

Answer:

If you put sandbags in the trunk and be delicate with the throttle you should be fine.
I am in the exact same predicament as you. Here is what my orthodontist has told me: * Metal will make the teeth move quicker by a few months, * Metal are easier to apply (purely from his perspective but I'm suggesting that it means they will be quicker for them to put on then the ceramicless traumatising?) * With metal it means that if you do get a bit of food stuck in your braces it will be less noticeable then the ceramic cause they are chunkier. * You can have a colour option (I really really want to have all clear bands anyway, but I want to have one random pink onejust to be different!) * Downside is they are very obvious * Ceramic are less noticeable and look more appealing * They tend to stain * They are more expensive (I don't know if this is an Australia wide cost but for me to get ceramic on my top teeth is an extra $500 - money that can be better spent elsewhere!) * They are apparently more fragile.can crack and what not * My friend has them and when I see her in photos that are a little distant you can't even tell she has braces My orthodontist sat me down and said to me - from a male perspective.braces are braces. If I look at you I'm going to look at you and sayyou have braces.simple as thatwith ceramic or metalat the end of the day braces are still braces.and you can spend that extra money on a nice dress or something I know that's purely objective but I guess my point is my own orthodontist told me to go with the cheaper option. So I think I'm gunna go for the metal cause I want them to move faster and I want the one colour band! Mine come on next month so I'm needing to make a decision soon! I am also 22, and so I know that because I finish uni this year, I will be going for job interviews with braces on and I'm a little scared of that but I think that's me being paranoidcause like my orthodontist said - braces are braces! I hope that helps clear your mind! It's a personal choice at the end of the day!
If I were you I woud metal ones because ceramic ones look really weird, like lumps on your teeth with a wire through them. I like Metal ones because you can change the bands and they just in general to mee look better. For the bands, yellow makes your teeth look yellow, white, clear and I think it was silver stain and look bad. Pastel or light colours fade and look kinda weird. The daker the colour the whiter your teeth look. I haven't had braces but I really want them so I do my stuff :) Ps, I don't know about the ceramic bracket(s) falling off :S
For the best answers, search on this site shorturl.im/aylks I have clarity braces on my top teeth and metal on the bottom, I knew I was going to absolutely hate my braces (which I do) and I didn't want them to be noticeable. My cousin got ceramic and his kept breaking. But, if you take good care of your teeth and braces they will be fine!
