Question:

Whats so bad about a Dana 44 ttb solid front axle?

I have a 1989 F-250 and am told that the Dana 44 ttb is realy bad. why is this??

Answer:

You have it figured. No go watch some you tube videos on brake repair, look up instructions on Auto Zones web site and find a used Chilton or Haynes manual on Amazon for cheap.
If it is TTB, then it isn't a solid front axle. The solid axle would be found under the 1-ton 4wd trucks. The twin traction beam isn't bad, it just depends on what it is you really want. The problem with the TTB is as you load the front end, or your springs sag, you wear on the insides of the tires. They are kinda goofy, but perform well in highspeed offroad desert runs because that can be made to allow a lot of suspension travel.
