Whats the difference between a cat back exhaust and an axle back?

Answer:

Cat Back (Catalytic converter) back is from the catalytic converter back. Axle back is the muffler and tail pipe.
Ceramics definitely. Oil paint is not fun to clean up after, you cant just run the brushes under water and call it clean. It all depends on what you like though, good luck :)
I think ceramics would be great for a beginner. Oils take a lot of time.
The Cat (catalytic converter) is usually close to the engine.A modified exhaust will begin here sometimes including a modified converter.Axle back is just the muffler itself.
axle back is for the cars where the muffler(s) are behind the rear axle right at the rear bumper, like newer style mustangs and most imports catback is for the other cars where the muffler is in front of the rear axle and also the catback kits is what it says, its everything from the catalytic converter on back not including in the catalytic converter
