This Site Might Help You. RE: Why do people put lime and salt in their Coronas? I don't know if they do it with other beer, but I hear people say it tastes a lot better with the lime.
Somebody lied to you. You don't put salt in a corona, you can use a lime if you want but it doesn't really make a difference. Maybe you're thinking of licking the salt off your hand before a shot of tequila then biting the lime.

Although the above answers can be said to be true now how the lime originally got into corona is because of the rust that would form on the rim of the bottle from the bottle cap. A lime would be used after opening to clean the rust off the bottle. This rust use to form more often when bottling standards where lower before it became a large export. In some latin american countries corona is served over ice with sour mix instead of a fresh lime wedge which I suggest trying. It is true that now it is used more for its abilities to cover up skunk beer - brown glass although not as visually appealing is the best at blocking light, then green bottles, and of course clear.
