Question:

whats the difference between the (MAS) Mass Air Senson & (AIT) Air Intake Sensor?

i bought this stuff from ebay saying that my vehicle will increase its power and MPG. But to do that, i have to locate the (AIT) Air Intake Sensor and there i have to install this. Now, i know what where the (MAS) Mass Air Sensor for my 2007 Toyota Corolla. Im just wondering where the heck is (AIT) Air intake Sensor for my corolla??? or maybe they are the same???Could somebody please tell their difference? or maybe somebody could send me some pics of how the (AIT) Air Intake Sensor looks like? pls ? pls?I still have 30 days to try this before i can return it to the sellerthanks so much for help!!!

Answer:

IAT is intake air temp sensor. Cars with MAF (mass air flow) sensor do not often have IAT. Old cars with MAP (manifold absolute pressure sensor) needed IAT to compensate for air temp. But the MAF all by itself and measure air MASS without IAT. So your car probably does NOT have IAT. If it exists it is integral part of the MAF. There are few thing you can do to save (or maximize) gas MPG. First get a tune-up. (1) spark plugs (2) spark plug wires (3) distributors, coil, rotors (if you have them). (4) new air filter (5) PCV (6) correct tire pressure (7) clear the trunk of useless heavy items (8) spray clean MAF sensor. Forget all those SAVE GAS scams. This was on NBC morning TV show. The difference is as much as 38% (their claim). There are very simple rules to save gas: (1) drive slow - not too much past 55 (2) accelerate slowly (3) don't brake unnecessarily (4) use cruise control - whenever it is safe to do so. Don't coast - it is NOT safe (to coast in Nuetral) and it does NOT save gas. It only saves gas, if you are planning to slow down (exiting, tolls, traffic). Coasting then accelerating again is LESS efficient than just cruising. The above really works. Using those simple rules I was able to drive from Boston to NYC (210.5 miles) on just 5.112 gallon (94 Civic). That's 41 MPG (94 Civic 187K miles). Actually I was speeding at 72 MPH so I could do even better at 55. WOW !! As simple as that. Good Luck. Good Luck.
This stuff is a scam, from what I can tell you probably bought one of those cyclone things that claims to make the air swirl so it mixes better, right? You may as well return it now if so. If it's something like a cone air filter or something you should just not expect very noticeable results outside of sound.
No, he bought a stupid resistor that was probably listed as a 'performance chip' bunch of crap dude. They cost a dollar at radio shack. I think toyota would have added this if it helped. It will make your car a little rich (more gas). How will running rich up mpg? It won't. It will make you car run rich. How will this make more power? It won't. As soon as the O2 sensor sees that your car is running rich it will lean it down again. If it runs to rich it will set the check light also. Have fun!
yeah that's all you need to do
