Dogs do this to mark their territory, they just let other dogs know that its their turf.
Its a marker of sorts, a communication thing with Alpha dog thrown in.
I enjoy both alone and with someone else, but honestly, if I'm with friends, I'm not going to get as much done. I like to power shop and go all out and with friends I feel like I have to hold back so I don't seem so showy (buying more than they are or have them question choices I make). It's really more of a social event with friends. However, when I am with my mom, she is GREAT to power shop with. She is very helpful, gives good advice and doesn't complain or nag or make me hurry up/slow down if I don't want to. She rocks lol :) I also enjoy going alone sometimes, as I use it as a way to de-stress and just zone out.
