Question:

whats up with these cold air intakes?

whats up with these cold air intakes?

Answer:

so this is the best I can tell you Both filters are Junk!!! As far as the rest of the intake goes its all the same your best investment if you want to stay cheap is to buy the cheap kit and buy a KN filter for it The filters that come with the kit are junk they restrict air flow pretty badly. as far as that expensive kit you got showing. its a gimmic dont fall for it just trying to rip you off big time If ure ganna spend over $150 then just go with a true KN kit good luck
i would add all purpose flour to help thicken it.
if it,s smoking then they sell stuff at auto zone that,s called ( no smoke and smoke-b- gone )
The cheaper one I belive is actually a ram air. Which stays in the engine bay. The more expensive one is a actual cold air intake. The difference is a cold air intake goes out and sits beside your tire behind the bumper. Which is better because it can suck in more air.
Both kits are bad choices. The $35 intake is just a shiny tube with a super cheap ineffecient filter. It is also not street legal in many areas. The $200+ one is the same thing but just over priced. It's not about what's on the outside of the tube, the size, or how nice it looks but it is about the design of the intake on the inside. These cheaper intakes are poorly designed on the inside and can severely ruin air flow. The higher end intakes by makes such as AEM, Injen, GReddy, Edelbrock, etc.have been researched and designed to improve air flow as much as possible by reducing turbulence - something these eCrap parts don't do. The filters included in the kits from said companies are also designed for real durability, maximum air flow, and the best filtration possible.
