Question:

Whats wrong with my brake system?

Its on a 97 acura integra, sometimes the car doesn‘t stop very well, other times it does. The pedal doesn‘t go to the floor so I doubt its air in the lines (but not 100 percent sure on that). The brake pedal doesn‘t go down any differently than it did when I got it, the brakes just work really good sometimes and takes forever to stop other times. Brakes are still like new all around. I believe I have a vacuum leak if that would affect it at all. Thank you

Answer:

if you have back drums you might want to set the brake shoes up a little tighter against the drums.
Check your brake fluid level. If it's low, refill it to see if there's a leak.
If you have a brake system problem. If vacuum was a problem pedal would be hard. Sounds like a bad proportioning valve or bad master cylinder. First before you spend all that money. Go and get a brake system flush this is relatively inexpensive. Around 79.95 at my dealer and that way you will have the possible air in the lines system solved. If it fixes it that's all i would do. If not look into those other things. Good luck i hope it is just needs bled well.
