Question:

When are kids old enough to make their own bed?

When are kids old enough to make their own bed?

Answer:

I am fifty five years old, and I don't make my bed.
7-9 years old depending on the maturity level of the kid
My oldest is 6 and he started making his bed by himself last year. He always made his bed, but he used to need some help. He does it now on his own and he does a pretty good job.
It seems everybody else's kids started making their own beds around age 4 or 5. I am still waiting for mine to make their beds and my oldest is an adult... So, it's not all about age. It's about a parent's determination and patience to teach.
I don't believe in making beds. I think it's a waste of time. There are two rules with beds: 1. No food or drink other than water may be consumed in your bed 2. Bedding has to stay off the floor These rules are obeyed at all ages. My kids sometimes make forts and stuff on their bed during the day, and I don't mind. I don't make my bed either. I imagine the age would vary based on your expectations though. If you just want them to throw the covers over loosely, then probably around 3-4 they could do that. If you expect hotel -quality, maybe closer to 7-8.
