Question:

When blowing cellulose insulation through aluminum siding, do you need to seal the holes.?

.that are drilled through the wood underneath or is it OK to just replace the removed piece of siding over the holes? What is the best way to close the holes if it's required?I already had the insulation blow-in from the exterior into the wall cavityThey removed pieces of the siding and drilled about 1 1/2 inch holes to pump the cellulose insulationMy question is, do the holes need to be sealed or can they be left as is and just replace the siding back on the wall? The contractor said he'd seal them but recommended they be left open for ventilationThe contractor has been in the insulation business for over 25 years and has a great reputation but leaving the holes unsealed just doesn't make sense to meAlso, I live in the Northeast in New York City.

Answer:

They should have used premade plugs to insert in the holes.I would never leave them uncovered I think he took a short cut on you.
