Question:

When do you change the exhaust system on a Ford F150?

I own a 2007 Ford F150 I‘ve owed it for 4 years already. It has a 4.6 v8 engine I was wondering how often and when is it recomended to change the exhaust system. Please help! I also would like to know what would be a good flow master that I can install.

Answer:

When it gets so loud you can't hear the radio or the person sitting next to you.
there is no scheduled time to change your exhaust, although over many years, the catalytic converters can gum up. I would have an exhaust shop remove them if it is not illegal in your state, and there are no oxygen sensors in there. You should have sensors in the resonators, that prevent straight-piping. If it were my truck I would have only the converters removed altogether, or have high-flow ones put back so it can breathe! Then I would get dual flowmaster 40 series, ran out the back with chrome tips :) or you could also try thrush glass packs, they sound pretty good too.
