Question:

When scaffolding under the slab should be removed?

Hi please tell me that when the scaffolding or props should be removed under the concrete slabs.I think that while pouring we r taking sample for compressive strength for 7 days 14 days and 28 days then from that results we have to see the strength and then the supports under the slabes are removed am i right ? if yes then after howmuch strength is required to remove the scaffolding?Another question is that howmuch samples from fresh concrete should be taken for compressive strength?ThanksRashidThanks

Answer:

wait 10 days 17 samples
The normal method is to remove the props when the concrete has reached the 28 day strength. This may be earlier than 28 days. However if the slab is to be loaded later with live load then the designers may say that for dead load only the props may be removed at a lower strength. The average strength of 2 cubes cast at the same time is required for a single strength result. (This may depend on which standard you are using)
