Question:

When specifying sizes, is metal like wood?

You know when you buy a 2x4 piece of wood, it's more like 1.5x3.5? If I want to buy 1.5quot;x3quot;x0.25quot; aluminum tube, will it actually be that size?

Answer:

I have Brembo ceramics in our 330ci, they re tough to bed in but nice and clean compared to the stock padsI m looking at Carbon Metallic s for the X3.Will they be just as clean?
Yes, metal and wood are very close in sizes, yet ordered differentlyWood lumber is ordered in nominal sizes i.e2 x 4 is 1 5/8 x 3 1/2, 2 x 6 is 1 5/8 x 5 1/2 and so onMetal is ordered by exact sizes i.e1 5/8, 3 5/8 and so on.
Carbon Mettalic probably wears better and provides better stopping power but I think the ceramics would be quieter.
