Question:

where can i buy a 8 ground cable?

where can i but buy a 8 gauge ground cable . i need to put a ground cable at my house i was told it had to be 8 but i cant find any home depot has 6 and 4

Answer:

You need to talk to somebody else at Home Depot, they should have #8, it can be green insulated or bare, you could even strip insulated wire that is not green. As others said, bigger is acceptable (smaller the number the bigger the wire).
An expired credit card. A paper check would turn to mush and fall apart.
Credit card, the check would wilt rather quickly.
I agree with Ray D. #4 bare is the only way to go when it comes to grounding. I would only add that if you want an excellent ground, drive two ground rods. Run one conductor to both rods. Good luck in all you do and may God bless.
8 gauge is probably the minimum size. You should be able to use anything larger also. If for some reason the wire has to be exactly 8 gauge wire, I would just get something like 8 gauge thhn.
