Most have a place to donate items We have in our area a Midwives group That is where people without a lot of money find some help with pregnancy They will take donations for their clients, also2 Red heart works fine Do you wash your items after they are made? If not, try washing them and using vinegar in the rinse water The vinegar takes out all the soap, etcand is a fabric softener also I then put my hats in the dryer with a dryer sheet and they come out nice and soft3 There are many more expensive yarns out there that are soft Even Red heart has a soft yarn So - it's just a matter of how much you want to spend If you are using your skills for charity remember that anything they receive is a gift If you use Red Heart yarns and soften them as I stated they will be great Give it a go.
