Question:

Where can i find a compatible wire harness?

i drive a 2001 Monte Carlo SS, and just recently the radio died on me, so i went out and bought an after market radio thinking that i could just pop the old one out and throw the new one in, but unfortunately i need to find a wire harness that would be compatible with my car. i have traveled to a couple Advance Auto Auto-zone stores around my area and they all say the same thing sorry, but we don't carry a compatible wire harness for your car. Does anyone know where i can find a harness that will work with my car? i really don't want to have to cut and splice the original wires.

Answer:

Walmart has them in the automotive section. They are around $6.00-$12.00. Don't go to Best Buy, they charge over $20.00 for theirs. Get the dashboard kit while you're there too. The old Chevy radios are slightly taller than the aftermarket ones.

Even better I believe is to go directly to a car audio shop. I don't like car toys because I believe they are to corporate tend to overcharge but almost any discount car audio store will know exactly what u will need. Besides locally owned operated car stereo shops take pride in their work often will be genuinely interested in helping u out.
