But you will need copper mesh, copper sheet on doors and windows, special copper gaskets on the doors and windows, and special feedthroughs for power and signal connections between inside and outside. And lots of training, this is not trivial to build. That is for a Faraday room or shield room. If you want a smaller enclosure with no people inside, no power or data connections, then a metal box is all you need. Yes, a metal trash can will work fine, as long as the lit fits tightly with no gaps. A dead microwave oven also works.
