Question:

where can i get little patches of carpet?

my hamster tore up the carpet by my door in the corner. its pretty big. id say 5 by 2 inches. i need a grey color.

Answer:

Try getting a sample piece that matches from a store that sells discontinued samples (Lowe's or Home Depot). Sometimes you can find them at a place like Big Lots. IF you cannot find a match but something close, consider replacing the carpeting in a closet, then use the carpet from the closet for repairs.
If you know where the carpet came from, you can contact the retailer. If not, I would try looking in a closet to see if the carpet is the same. You could remove the carpet from the closet and use that for patches. Put a new piece of carpet in the closet. Another alternative. Since it is near the door, could you cut out a large section of carpet and replace it with tile or linoleum or similar flooring material to make an entry area? You might have a carpeter restretch the carpet and see if you can gain enough carpet to cover the area. This might work if the carpet is a few years old. Contact a carpenter to see what they think.
I needed small pieces of carpet for my travel trailer to put down when it was wet and muddy. Something cheap I could throw away. I went to carpet stores that sold and installed carpets. They have great buys in pieces of beautiful carpet left over from installations. Anywhere from 1 x 2 to 3 x 5 for twenty five cents to a dollar. Make your own deal. If you don't find what you want in one place, go to another.
