Question:

where did greece import most of its copper?

i have a map of the trade in ancient greece and i am trying to find out where greece imported most of its copper?

Answer:

The ancient name for cyprus was ...KITIM....this is a phonecian word for copper........ and yes greece recived all thier copper from cyprus....... the copper mine of the ancients are closed now but they still yield copper...cyprus is still very rich in copper. the phoneciens where the frist to mine copper in KITIM..... the people who lived on the island area mixture of phonecians ..aboriginals..and greeks.. the phonecians where also the first to trade copper to the greeks.. mainly the myceanians(eastern peoploponesus)...and the minonians(crete) and the thyrians (santorini) and yes CYPRIUM is latin for copper..and that is how cyprus got it,s modern name..from the roman period...
Most of the copper used in the Greek cities were mined in Cyprous. Which BTW name comes from the Latin сyprium which means .... you guessed it: Copper...
