Question:

Which Copper Penny is Worth $10,000 to 1 Million Dollars?

I understand that copper pennies made during WWII were very rare. What is the year of this/these valuable pennies? How much is it worth today? And how do I find out if a coin in made out of real copper?

Answer:

The coins you are taking about is the 1943 copper cents. That year due to the war the cent was changed to a zinc coated steel planchet. Some copper planchets were still around and stuck in the hoppers that hold planchets, they got lose and were minted. All have been accounted for at least for now and no new ones that are real have been discovered in many years. Use a magnet if it picks up the coin then it is a copper plated zinc coated steel cent. Now there are also some zinc coated steel 1944 cents, the planchets again got caught in the cracks of the hoppers and were struck. They are very rare and no new ones have been found in many years. I really don't keep track of values on something like that, for the only time one knows their worth is when one is sold at auction, which is not often. Your chances of finding one or having a real one is very small. Hope this answers your question.
I found a 44 in my yard and just ran across a 43 in the house but you need to look for the mint mark. Don't recall what it is but it's a c or d under the date in your penny look it up because that determines if you got 10g+ or 1 cent.
Million Dollar Penny 1944
I have a 1943 penny and a magnet doesn't pick it up, so is it worth anything?
