Question:

Which do you think is better??? Front or top loader washing machine?

Just want your opinion on what you think is better... - easy to use, saves water, gentle on clothes...etc.A top or front loader washing machine??

Answer:

Ok both have goods and bads...we know the front loader will save tons of water and is gentler on clothes...However, they seem to take longer and sometimes very heavily soiled clothing gets left still a bit dirty *from what i've experienced* For the front loader I personally would buy nothing but Tide He so I knew theyd come as clean as possible. The front loaders come in cool colors and designs and you get the nifty pullout soap/softener/bleach dispenser... But you cant open the door to make sure all is well or throw in the underwear or sock that fell out of your basket on the way And unless you buy the nifty but expensive pedestals...your back will be very unhappy Now the Top loader..Lots of water used no doubt...You have to becareful what agitator you get if it is an old fashioned one then expect the clothes to be sloshed around and possibly damaged over time. Look for the spiral ones sometimes called surgilator or flex something.... And NEVER EVER buy a washer with a PLASTIC TUB....DISGUSTING and clothes dont come as clean. Clothes come out well. Reasonably priced for a family size machine. The cheaper front loaders hold considerably less clothes.. So my advice is if you can afford a good sized front loader go for it. But if you have a large family get yourself a super capacity plus top loading Whirlpool and you will be set..
I like the top loader washing machines but front loading dryers.
The last time I had a machine repaired the repairman told me to always buy a simple machine that would be easy to repair. The worst he said would be the new front loaders that have all the digital controls. Unless it is under warranty, expect to pay a lot to repair it. The best he said was the simple dial control machines. He said they last for a long time and there repairs are not that expensive. As for cost, well the simple dial top loaders are the cheapest ones you will find. They are easier on your back and they do come with energy star ratings.
A front loader is more expensive but saves on water and doesn't kill your clothes like a top loader (middle thing of a top loader streches clothes things that have strings get pulled). Plus, bonus if you live or rent in NSW you get 150$ rebate on front loaders for choosing 4 water star rating. I've had both and I can honestly say that I will never go back to top loader - not gentle on clothes at all and the washing powder for front loader is better. Really depends how much you want to spend - I know that front loaders are expensive but if you get a good one, you can save on water, electricity and save your clothes - make sure you check the star ratings take care
I was like you until recently, couldn't decide between top or front loader. I ended up getting a front loader haven't looked back. It's a beauty! Washes extremely well doesn't use much water. It is a 7kg, plenty big enough but I would have preferred a faster spin speed than 800rpm I do advise getting a machine that measures the amount of water required for the load. I will never go back to a top loader. All the best!!!
