Question:

Which is better Polymer Air Dry Clay Or Oven Baked?

When I started getting into Polymer clay I heard about the Air Dry type firstI wanted to do it instead of bakign since it's be easier and I wouldn't have to use my mom's ovenBut I looked at craft stores and all I've found it the oven baked claySo I'd have to buy air dry onlineNow I'm considering buying a clay oven from Joanns and just doing oven clayIs there really a differance between the clays in the final product?I want to make mostly ice cream scoops cute stuff for jewerly and to deco thingsIs there any differance between them at all?Which do you think is better?

Answer:

For polymer clay, i use sculpey, which is the oven-bake oneive never seen air-dry polymer clay at craft stores, but i think its cold porcelain the results are the same, and cold porcelain may seem easier to use because its softer and air-dryits also easier to moldbut cold porcelain air drys so you have to work fasteralso you dont need a craft oven, you can just use the regular kitchen ovenjust make sure to put your items on top of aluminum foil/ wax paper so it doesnt get stuck to the panpersonally i like oven-bake clay just cuz i can make any changes any time i want because it stays squishy the whole time and doesnt dry overnightbut its really your choice because some find cold porcelain easier to work with:D
