Question:

Which is more comfortable, a day bed or a futon?

i'm redoing my room and i currently have a large couch that has a pullout bed, and a twin bed. i'm going to take them both out and replace it with either a day bed or a futon. whats the best idea/which is the most comfortable?

Answer:

Definitely a day bed. Futons have that big bar in them that you can feel through the cushion. They're ok for over-night guests, but every day use would be awful!
I agree -- a daybed. I thought the futon was a great idea; I loved how cute it looked when it folded up and I love everything oriental, etc. Unfortunately, I never really slept on it myself until after I got married and I started having trouble sleeping!! Now I spend at least 2-3 nights a week regretting my decision. Thankfully, I've just talked my husband into switching to a daybed, since we now have a regular once a month guest coming over. YEAH!!
Either can be more or less comfortable depending on the mattress. Any kind of mattress that can go on a bed is available as a futon mattress. Personally, I'd vote futon for the sleeping space. A full size folds up to the space of a daybed, but lets out bigger.

It would really depend on how good the mattress is on the day bed or the futon. If you're on a budget get the day bed.
