Question:

Which needs less force to be moved? A roller skate on its side or a roller skate on its wheels?

I need to help making a procedure showing which one is true. Can anyone help? My items that need to be used are:2 roller skates 2 rubber bands, same size 1 yardstickI'd really appreciate any help I can get!! Thanks! :)

Answer:

Concur with the above, but would like to add steam (water vapor). My smoke-detector (ion, not optical) was outside the bathroom, and used to go off after I opened the door after a hot shower to let the steam out (and it wasn't *that* much steam either, just enough to fog the bathroom-mirror). I would also think (a cloud of) dust could set it off.
Many fire departments have a program that provides smoke detectors at little or no cost. Usually they only handle the regular type, but if you call and explain your situation, I bet they'll try and get you what you need. If they cannot do it, ask for your local Bureau of Fire Prevention, or the Fire Marshal's office number. Let me know how that goes for you; I know if I were the firefighter you reached, I'd do whatever it took for you. I applaud you for making a smoke detector a priority.
