Question:

which SUbaru STI blow off valve?

I know i have to buy a recirculating valve but should i drop 250 on the perrin or will any brand do? how important is a high quality BOV?

Answer:

To correct alot of false answers here: DO NOT GET A BLOW OFF VALVE. A Recirculating valve is called a Bypass Valve. All Blow Off Valves go to the atmosphere. The only reason to get a new Bypass Valve is if you are running a bigger turbo and the stock one starts to leak. Im running 20psi on my stock turbo and the stock bypass valve holds fine.
no importance on brand as long as its a recirculating valve, not a vent to atmosphere.
Make sure you get a tune with the BOV, you might encounter engine problems such as stalling.
Get a high quality one. you don't want to drop money on something twice because the first one breaks and makes the car run bad. Wait for perrin to have a sale, they always do. I saved over 200 on my intercooler by waiting for them to have a sale.
Go with the APS blow off valve. As for the idiot who said name doesn't matter, let him go buy a $20 BOV and have i the diaphragm start leaking at idle and cause tons of driving issues.
