Question:

Which upgrade will keep the house cooler, insulation or flooring?

I live in central Florida and have a 2 story house, 4/2.5, 2500 sqft, built in 2004It was only built with one hvac system (air unit) instead of two so the house never evenly cools in summer or warms in the winterTo save money we keep the house at 86 in summer before the air comes on and in winter we don't use the heat at all but have portable heaters in the bedroomsThe first floor is all tile and the 2nd floor is all carpet except the bathroomsI think it would help if we took out the carpet and put some hard flooring downThis would help keep it cooler in summer since our electric bill gets high because I can't stand to let it get too hot and usually end up putting the air on before it hits 86My husband says we should just add more insulation to the attic which will help make it cooler in the houseOf course both options will eventually need to be done, but which option should be done first for the best results?

Answer:

1.)A zephyr is either a light breeze, or a wind usually the west wind, or another name for a type of blimp 2.)A zephyr is an instant messenger protocol and application-suite with a heavy Unix backgroundUsing the do one thing, do it well philosophy of Unix, it was made up of several separate programs working together to make a complete messenging system.
Most times I've heard it referenced, Zephyrs are actually referring to a type of blimpI mean come on, what's cooler, a giant party balloon or a lame gust of wind? Although since you posted under weather, yeah it's just a little gust.
A zephyr is a tiny wind current that is so small it can make one little leaf on a tree shake like its in a tornado, but the other leaves around it are perfectly calm,It is a very interesting weather phenomenonHope this answered your question the best :)
LOL.A zephyr is a type of blimp? We wouldn't be confusing zephyr for zeppelin, would we? I'm going back to zzzzzzzz now.
This is one time where listening to your man is a good ideaThe insulation helps to keep external heat effects out longer, thus keeping the temperature steady for a longer time, and reducing your energy bills for cooling the houseThe floor makes little to no difference, except by what you feel, and then only if your feet are bare.
