Question:

Who is better: The Canadian Crusher or The Machine?

My opinion? Justin Morneau is my favorite player, and I think he's awesome, offensively defensively, but he isn't as good as Pujols. (He is the best first baseman in the AL though.) His glove is better than Pujols', but Pujols' bat is in a league all his own. So, what do you think? No stupid or crude comments please.

Answer:

The Machine. I hopehopehopehopehopehopehopehopehopehope... no steroid use comes up, because I would LOVE to see a genuine, pure Pujols become the new Home Run King in the future. Even though Arod will pass Bonds, Hank Aaron is still the king in my eyes.
Like you said - The better fielder is Justin Morneau The better bat is Albert The Machine Pujols Fielding stats this season Fielding PCT Pujols - .992 Morneau - .999 Errors Commited Pujols - 7 Morneau - 1 Morneau clearly is better on the field, Hitting Stats this Season Home Runs Pujols - 32 Morneau - 21 Runs Batted In Pujols - 87 Morneau - 70 Strikeouts - Pujols - 35 Morneau - 57 Pujols is clearly the better hitter
Pujols is better offensively, and I might give him the edge defensively as well. I have seen Albert play, he is amazing defensively. I have not seen Morneau very often, so I don't know how good his range is. Edit: This year, Morneau has the advantage defensively. Both are superb defenders. Morneau should have been the starting first baseman for the American League.
The Canadian Crusher. Everyone is praising Pujols, and yes he has great talent - but he is totally overrated. People are in love with the guy - and it could be pure talent , but you know what , it could also be steroids ? Morneau is an excellent player. He has great bat speed, and is a great 1B. You see that error, the Machine made at 1B in the ASG? Yeah - not so much being praised now, huh. But see , every player makes mistakes, but i think Morneau is more of a consistent decent player. I will say though - Pujols is a better hitter , but i know i'll get thumbs downs for this - but am i the only one who thinks he could be on steroids ?!
At first glance, I thought you were maybe talking about a couple of teams in the Northern League (or pro wrestlers). Guess I've been under a rock - I've never heard Morneau's nickname. I'd go with Pujols hands down. I think his defense is actually underrated a bit, not on the level of Morneau's, but he won't cost you any ballgames (the All Star game doesn't count LOL). And he more than makes up for it at the plate. I'm amazed not only at his power, but the fact that he doesn't strike out that often - a pretty rare combination, especially in today's game. And I'm surprised too at Pujols' ability on the basepaths. Not that he's real quick, but he seems to be a very intelligent base runner - I don't know if I've ever seen him make a mistake on the base paths. The best way I can describe him on the basepaths is as being Intelligently Aggressive - give him that extra second, and he'll take the extra base on you, but smart enough not to do so foolishly. To compare any other player to him right now is almost unfair. I don't know if there has ever been player like him in my lifetime, at least from a hitting standpoint, that combines average, power, and the ability to put the ball in play. There isn't a player around right now that can compare to Pujols. (And this coming from a Cubs fan). But if the Twins wanted to give Morneau up, I'd take him in a heartbeat. Both of them are players you could really build a team around.
